Darin has been playing trumpet since he was 12 (that would be 25+ years). A graduate of BYU, he considers himself a true "Utah Valley kid." He has played lead trumpet for BYU's premier Jazz Band, Synthesis. His teaching accomplishments include instructing the big band class at Orem High (four years) and teaching the lab band for Ray Smith at BYU.
It's been five years that Darin has been with Party Train and its predecessor (Wave O' Blues). Band talents include playing what is written on the page, singing back up when allowed, and soloing when the band wants to see him move his valves really fast....ok, so that is more of a band-private joke.
Personal details: Darin is a marketing executive for a high tech company, the father of four boys, an eagle scout and had a paper route when he was 12.
